Recently, the 2014 Peugeot 308 has been revealed online by Peugeot. Even though this new car is not revealed directly in the auto show, it is sufficiently enough to make sure that it will be a fantastic choice for future. According to the official report, this car is going to sale in late fall.
There is no detail information released by the automaker about this next generation of 308. Information about powertrain or features applied in this car is uncovered yet. However, the automaker allows the automotive lovers know that this car is built based on EMP2 platform. Actually, this platform is used in the new Citroen C4 Picasso. When this platform is implemented in the 2014 Peugeot 308, automatically it will replace the PF2 and PF3 platform.
Due to this platform, the total weight of this car is reduced. The automaker proudly states that the construction of this car is lightweight. It is reported that the weight is cut about 140 kg from the outgoing model. As consequence, it gives significant impact on the driving feel and (the most important thing) fuel consumption.
Physically, it can be seen that this car is not quite long. The EMP2 platform makes this own 4.25 meters long. Meanwhile, the height is approximately 1.46 meters. Compared to its predecessor, it is lower and shorter as well. The engine mounting position is lower. As the result, the automotive lovers can see that this car has a sharp front-end design. Besides, the passengers will find quite spacious cabin when they come inside. The cargo capacity is around 470 liters which are roomy for a lot of belongings.
From the outside, this car receives similar touch like the smaller 208. It has some design cues applied in the 208. On the other side, the designers use the “i-cockpit” philosophy once again for this car. It means that steering wheel and head-up instrument cluster found in the 208 are included as features in the 2014 Peugeot 308. However, the driver will not find a lot of conventional buttons anymore. These have been replaced by a touch screen display. It has 9.7 inches large.
Powertrain, complete features, and price are still mysteries. The automaker chooses Sochaux as a place to manufacture this car. It is expected that the production process doesn’t take too long. As the result, this car can be debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and sold in this fall.
