It has been purposed that this concept car (when it has been production version) will be marketed in China. The automaker realizes that the Chinese likes to drive a small sedan. In this case, the cost is a problem. In this tighter automotive market, this sedan brings low-cost agenda. The price will be under the Focus. It has been reported that the Ford is the most popular small compact car like in China. However, it doesn’t mean that the appearance of Ford Escort Concept will replace the Focus in the market. In fact, this low-cost small sedan will give the customers another choice to drive next time.
Due to the statement and main purpose of this concept car, the automotive lovers might think that they will see a less-expensive type of car. It must be low end car with lower quality features. In fact, the consistency of the automaker to create a car with handsome body can be seen from this car. With low cost, this concept car is shown like a fuzzy cross between Fusion and Focus. The front side is featured with Aston Martin like hexagonal grille. Meanwhile, LED headlights will steal the onlookers’ attention from the front side while the opposite side looks clean. Even though this car looks small, this car is longer than Focus sedan.
The company still keeps the detail of this car. However, the automaker states that this car is built based on the Focus architecture. Through this concept car, the automaker would like to show the next generation of Ford to make expansion in global compact car in China. According to Jim Farley as executive vice president for global marketing, sales and service, this concept car is made from the input and opinion from the Chinese customers.
Powertrain and technology for this concept car is unveiled yet. In fact, since the automotive lovers in china have their heart set on having a car in high level of technology. Chine has been decided as the target to sell this car. It is reasonable since 25 percent of cars which have been sold in China are compact. Therefore, the Ford Escort Concept will represent the Chinese desire.
